- Magistrates Court Fines
-
It is highly advisable of a debtor to settle payment of any Magistrates Court fines they may have outstanding before attending to other debt matters, as non-payment is punishable by incarceration.
If payments on a Magistrates Court fine are not made according to schedule, the Court has the right to pass the case to private recovery firms who have the right to force an entry and arrest the debtor.
If the debtor cannot keep up the instalments, they should appeal in writing to the Court's Fines and Fees department explaining their circumstances and making a new offer of payment. For advice on how to deal with Magistrates Court issues, please contact us.
